【交換留学】University of Baguio Exchange Student Report Dai Urakawa

I have twenty days left here at the University of Baguio. When I first came here, I wanted to go back to Japan because I couldn’t understand much and it was difficult to study. It is very difficult for me to express myself at this time as my departure is coming close. Now I love it here. I met nice people, enjoy the food and like the place. I met super cool school friends and my teachers are kind to me. When some of my classmates think I didn’t understand the lesson, they taught me even if I didn’t ask them to. Because of their help, I could catch up with the 6 classes I am enrolled in. I particularly like my tourism class because I learn much about the Philippines and Baguio City. If you ever come here, I can guide you around the city. It was difficult for me as a Japanese to do a tour guide in this class but my teacher said that we did better than the Filipino students. We have many presentations and assignment in our classes. During our break periods, in restaurants or over dinner my classmates and I talked about our topics assignment. It is fun and sometimes funny to discuss with my classmates. It will be our finals in a week’s time. This is I think the most difficult part because the range of the exams will cover all the lectures.
Looking back, I think the complains I had before about my host family were stupid. They kindly gave me everything and took care of me. My lifestyle here is completely different and it took me a while to get used to it. Because of my host family, I am here today. Daddy Jun and Mommy Charmaine are wonderful host parents. They are always happy, funny, great personalities and respectful of each other so they never fight. When I feel down and cry, they encouraged me to try harder. To be honest, when I first came here I don’t why I escaped from talking to them. But now it feels like I have known them for a long time. Daddy Jun is a loved teacher of the Dentistry Department. I have a few days left and I want to spend more time with them.
