On a recent afternoon in the Department of International Studies, students from Nepal surprised their professor with a special treat—a flavorful “desi” dish that brought the classroom to life!

During the third period, the Nepali students worked together to prepare a delicious meal that was a fusion of Indian and Nepali cuisine. The dish was made with wai-wai noodles, puff rice, beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, potatoes, onions, and a colorful mix of spices, all topped off with a splash of fresh lemon. The result was a spicy, tangy, and unforgettable flavor that everyone enjoyed.

The students explained that “desi” food is a term often used to describe traditional dishes from South Asia, especially India and Nepal. It was a wonderful chance for everyone in the class to learn not only about ingredients and cooking methods, but also about friendship, hospitality, and cultural pride.

“It was more than just food—it was a cultural experience,” said the professor, smiling after the meal.

Thank you to our wonderful students for sharing your culture in such a tasty and memorable way!
