特別講義ⅠB（World Religions）は、世界の主要な宗教について英語で学び、多文化理解を深めることを目的とした発展的な授業です。本科目では、一定以上の英語運用能力を前提とし、英語を「学ぶ対象」としてではなく、「学びのためのツール」として活用します。

本授業では、ヒンドゥー教、イスラム教、神道、仏教、ユダヤ教などを含む主要な世界宗教を取り上げ、それぞれの教義や価値観について理解を深めていきます。単に知識を得るだけでなく、宗教間に見られる共通点や相違点について比較・考察し、より多角的な視点から世界を捉える力を養います。

キリスト教主義に基づく本学においては、相互理解と寛容の精神こそが平和の基盤であると考えています。本授業は、宗教に関する正しい知識と多様な視点を身につけることで、他者への理解を深め、共生社会に貢献する姿勢を育むことを目的としています。

授業はディスカッションや発表を中心に進められ、学生は調査した内容を英語で発信します。自らの視点を整理し、他者と意見を交換する過程を通して、思考力と表現力を高めていきます。

本授業は、英語力のさらなる発展に加え、グローバル社会において求められる広い視野と深い理解力を育成することを重視しています。

Special Lecture IB (World Religions) is an advanced course designed to deepen students’ understanding of major world religions while developing a broader global perspective. As with other Special Lecture courses, a certain level of English proficiency is required, and English is used not as the primary object of study, but as a tool for higher-level learning.

In this course, students are introduced to approximately ten major world religions, including Hinduism, Islam, Shinto, Buddhism, and Judaism. Through examining their core beliefs, doctrines, and cultural contexts, students explore both the similarities and differences among these traditions, fostering a more nuanced understanding of the world.

As a Christian university, we believe that peace is built upon mutual understanding and tolerance. This course reflects that philosophy by encouraging students to engage with diverse perspectives and develop respect for different belief systems. Gaining knowledge and perspective through study is seen as a pathway to greater empathy and global awareness.

Classes are conducted in an interactive format, with an emphasis on discussion and student presentations. Students research specific topics, share their findings in English, and engage in thoughtful dialogue with their peers. Through this process, they strengthen their ability to analyze complex ideas and communicate them effectively.

By combining content-based learning with active use of English, this course fosters both intellectual growth and the development of skills essential for participation in a diverse and interconnected world.
