特別講義ⅠA（Environmental English）は、より高度な英語運用能力の育成を目的とした発展的な授業です。本科目の履修には、英検2級以上またはTOEIC L&R 550点以上の英語力が求められ、一定の基礎力を備えた学生が、さらに実践的かつ専門的な英語力を伸ばすことを目指します。

本授業はディスカッションを中心とした参加型の形式で進められ、学生は環境問題に関する多様なテーマについて意見交換を行います。授業では、環境問題の現状を理解し、それらを英語で説明・整理するだけでなく、課題の分析や解決策の提案にも取り組みます。こうした活動を通して、自らの考えを論理的に構築し、英語で発信する力を養います。

扱う主なトピックには、地球温暖化、大気汚染、酸性雨、森林破壊、砂漠化などが含まれます。これらの地球規模の課題について学ぶことで、学生は国際的な視点から問題を捉える力を身につけていきます。

また、本授業には、環境に対する意識を高めるという側面も含まれています。英語での議論や発信を通じて、学生一人ひとりが環境問題を自分ごととして捉え、持続可能な社会の実現に向けた意識を育むことを目指しています。

本授業は、高度な英語力の習得とともに、現代社会において重要な課題に主体的に向き合う姿勢を養うことを重視しています。

Special Lecture IA (Environmental English) is an advanced-level course designed to further develop students’ English proficiency through the exploration of global environmental issues. Enrollment requires a solid foundation in English, with a minimum proficiency of Eiken Grade 2 or a TOEIC L&R score of 550 or higher.

This course is discussion-based and highly interactive, encouraging students to actively engage in conversations about a wide range of environmental topics. Students examine current environmental challenges, organize and explain key issues in English, and work toward proposing practical solutions. Through these activities, they strengthen their ability to think critically and express their ideas clearly and logically.

Topics covered in the course include global warming, acid rain, air pollution, deforestation, and desertification. By exploring these global concerns, students develop a broader international perspective and deepen their understanding of the interconnected nature of environmental issues.

In addition to language development, the course also aims to foster a deeper awareness of environmental responsibility. Through discussion and reflection, students are encouraged to consider these issues on a personal level and to think about their role in contributing to a more sustainable future.
