English Camp Activity with Local Junior High School Students and CGU Students

On July 15, 2023, an English Camp was held as an exciting and immersive language learning experience for local junior high school students. The English Camp, held at Chinzei Gakuin University and supported by the Isahaya Board of Education, aimed to foster language skills and cultural exchange. This memorable event was made possible through the collaboration between Japanese and International students in the Community Service Learning (CLS) class in the Department of Foreign Languages.

The English Camp began with an interactive activity designed to spark enthusiasm and competition among the participating students. The popular online learning platform, Kahoot, was utilized to create a fun and engaging quiz. Through Kahoot’s user-friendly interface, students were able to test their knowledge of the English language while enjoying a friendly competition. The questions covered a range of topics, including English language, world facts, and cultural aspects adding an element of diversity to the learning experience.

Following the Kahoot activity, Chinzei University students and local junior high school students were divided into smaller groups to foster closer interaction and communication. The university students took on the role of facilitators and guides throughout the event. The groups participated in various games designed to reinforce language learning and cultural understanding. Engaging in activities such as treasure hunting game, memory game, and karuta. The participants had the opportunity to practice their English skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. The International students from Chinzei University brought their own unique cultural perspectives, which further enriched the experience by promoting cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.

To conclude the event on a delightful note, a well-deserved treat awaited the participants. Hamburgers, French fries, drinks, and ice cream were served, offering a delicious reward for their efforts during the English Camp. As the event drew to a close, group photos were taken, capturing the memories and bonds created during this language-filled day.
