In August, four faculty members from the Department of Foreign Languages went to the Philippines. In the Philippines, they visited two universities, the University of Baguio and Emilio Aguinaldo College, to deepen their learning, share information and opinions, and establish meaningful relations for the future.

At both universities, our professors were able to observe actual classes and learn new methods that we can incorporate in our university. We also look forward to deepening cooperation and exchanges between the universities.

NWU already has a long-standing agreement with the University of Baguio, but the partnership with Emilio Aguinaldo College is still in its infancy. We hope to build new relationships during this visit and explore further opportunities for our university to interact with the wider world.

In addition to learning about educational methods, we were also able to deepen exchanges with local faculty and staff and talk about the differences between the Philippines and Japan in terms of education. The eight-day visit to the Philippines was very fulfilling as we were able to actually see, hear, and taste Filipino culture.

This visit reminds us of the importance of learning from each other. At our university, faculty members seek to broaden their perspectives, explore opportunities, deepen their interactions with the world, and grow together. And we believe that this will open doors to new opportunities for students, parents, and all stakeholders.

この８月、外国語学科の教員４名がフィリピンへ赴きました。フィリピンではUniversity of BaguioとEmilio Aguinaldo Collegeという２つの大学を訪問し、学びを深め、情報や意見を共有し、今後につながる有意義な時間を過ごすことができました。

両大学では、実際の授業を観察することができ、本学でも取り入れることができる新しい手法を学ぶことができました。また、大学間の連携や交流を深めていくことにも期待がふくらみました。

本学はすでにUniversity of Baguioとは長年協定を結んでいますが、Emilio Aguinaldo Collegeとの連携はこれからです。今回の訪問で新しい関係を築き、本学がさらに広い世界との交流を深め、さらなる機会を探りたいと思います。

教育方法について学ぶだけでなく、現地の教職員の方々とも交流を深め、教育におけるフィリピンと日本の違いについてもお話しできました。実際にフィリピンの文化を見て、聞いて、味わうことができ、８日間のフィリピン訪問は非常に充実したものになりました。

今回の訪問では、互いに学び合うことの重要性を改めて認識させられました。本学では、教員自身が視野を広げ、機会を探求し、世界との交流を深め、共に成長することを目指します。そしてこのことが、学生や保護者、すべての関係者にとって新しい機会の扉を開くことにつながると信じています。
